Here at Red Hound Farms, we are proud to offer grass-fed angus beef. In our experience, many people have heard of this type of beef, but many aren’t clear on what makes it better than grain-fed beef from a conventional factory farm–or if it even is better. To convince you to give our beef a try, in this article, we will go over some of the things that make grass-fed angus beef so great.
- It Tastes Better. The biggest point in favor of grass-fed angus beef over grain-fed beef is the flavor. Grass-fed beef has a subtle, earthy flavor that grain-fed beef lacks, a difference that comes down to the diets of the cows. Grain-fed cows always eat the same thing, while grass-fed cows eat a wide variety of plants that gives the meat a more variable flavor profile.
- It’s Lower in Fat. Another benefit of grass-fed angus beef is that it is lower in fat and calories than grain-fed beef. A 6-ounce steak of grass-fed beef can have up to 100 fewer calories than a grain-fed steak of the same size, and just ⅓ the fat content. To put it another way, grass-fed beef offers you a way to eat healthier without cutting burgers completely out of your diet.
- It Contains More Nutrients. Grass-fed angus beef also contains higher concentrations of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), as well as a greater variety of them. The varied diets of grass-fed cows gives their meat more iron, vitamin B, and vitamin D than that of grain-fed cows.
