Here at Red Hound Farms, we proudly offer our barn and grounds as event rentals. Barns make a great venue for weddings, family reunions, corporate events, and more due to their rustic charm, but they also come with a unique set of considerations. In this article, we will go over three key things to consider before you book an event barn for your next gathering.
- Accessibility. Because event barns are typically located off the beaten track, accessibility is often more of a concern than it would be for a more traditional event venue. In this case, accessibility refers to how easy it is for your guests to get to the event location itself, as well as to accessibility for those with mobility issues or other disabilities. For the first kind, be sure to provide clear directions to the venue, and for the second, make sure that the location will be able to accommodate your guests’ needs. For instance, if one of your guests uses a wheelchair, it’s a good idea to choose an event barn with a paved path leading up to it.
- Amenities. While you may like the old-fashioned look of an event barn, that doesn’t mean you want to be stuck with old-fashioned bathroom facilities. While most event barns are equipped with modern amenities, including comfortable restrooms and electric lighting, it’s always wise to make sure before you commit to the rental.
- Landscaping. No one chooses a barn as an event venue if they don’t want to spend at least part of the time outdoors. With this in mind, make sure that the landscaping and scenery around your chosen event barn appeals to you, and that you can enjoy spending time in it.
