Taking a farm tour can help you feel like you’ve taken a step back in time.
Driving up and down the roads of Advance, North Carolina used to involve passing a lot more farms than it does today. Although this area was once quite rural, it has undergone significant development over the years, making farms more of an exception than the rule. But when you spot a working farm, it’s fun to say hello to the animals and recall what life was like for people in this area many years ago.
At Red Hound Farms, we love to introduce people to the farm life at our working farm. When you visit our location, which is conveniently located for those in the Advance area, you can take a farm tour to see what we do up close.
Taking a farm tour can help you feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. Here, we focus on caring for the various types of animals that reside on our farm and tending to the 160 acres of pastoral land. When you take a farm tour, you’ll get a glimpse into what life is like for today’s farmers. You’ll probably see at least one of the six farm dogs we have running around. The dogs are trained to carry out search and rescue efforts in the community. Our animal population also includes turkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, alpacas, cows, horses, and others.
One of our more popular farm tour options takes place on a wagon and lasts about a half hour. After the tour, you’re also welcome to explore the corn maze or pumpkin patch, feed the animals, or even complete a farm chore or two.
